Nike Technology
Nike, Inc. has a history of developing innovative and new impact protection systems. Starting with the Waffle Trainer to the Shox columns developed in 2001, certain technologies can only be found in genuine Nike shoes. Nike employs a variety of cushioning systems in their products. Cushioning systems need to reduce shock, distribute pressure, protect from impact and offer comfort shock, distribute pressure, protect from impact, and offer comfort. The four cushioning systems pioneered and sold by Nike are Nike Dunks, Nike Air Max, Nike Air Force 1, and Nike Shox. Click on the name to learn more about each of these technologies.
Nike Air Force 1 History
The Air Force 1 athletic shoes, is a product of Nike, Inc. created by designer Bruce Kilgore. This was the first basketball shoe to use the Nike Air technology. The name is a reference to Nike Air Force One, the plane that carries the President of the United States. The shoes are sold in three different styles. The two most common are low-top and mid-top, while Nike produces a high-top model which is usually harder to find in many stores. The mid-top and high-top Air Force 1's come with a velcro-securable strap; the mid-top strap is secured to the shoe while the high-top's strap is movable and removable. Although the shoe comes in many different colors and color schemes, the most common Air Force 1's sold are solid white (often referred to as "white-on-white") and solid black colors.
Nike Shox History
In 2001, Nike unveiled a completely new and revolutionary style of athletic shoe cushioning. The Nike Shox system is based on the simple idea that a shoe should not only provide cushioning, but return the energy of the impact to the wearer just like a spring would. The Shox system took sixteen years to develop, but the highly resilient foam in the Nike Shox columns reduce the risk of impact-related injuries. (Link Exchange Partners)The state- of-the-art Shox won't have you bouncing off of walls, but it will provide a barely noticeable, but pleasantly springy ride for even the most demanding athlete.Resources
Nike Dunks History
The Nike Dunks has a lower profile outer sole than its parent shoes. The intent was a lighter weight and staying closer to the ground. In addition, the paneling was revised to improve basketball game performance during pivoting and blocking. The Nike SB Dunks was used to spearhead what Nike called the ¡¯College Colors¡¯ program. They signed some college basketball teams (and their coaches) to an exclusive Dunk sponsorship deal; in simple terms, the deal meant that each colored pair of Nike Dunks SB matched their uniforms.
